Sun Lovers

In winter I think of the sun because it’s fickle. Fickle things annoy me. I need that sun, need its vitamin D and its hopefulness. When it’s shining, I’m thankful. Even if it is the color of watered down nonfat milk, it’s got power.

Happiness is a sparkling strand of spider’s silk
diamonds of dewdrops
in the rising sun

Happiness is finding in the rose’s thorny mass
a pair of praying hands
open to receive the winter sun

Happiness is waking beside a new beloved
surprised your body delivered the verdict
your heart hoped for
A new sun smiles

Telling a tale in exactly 55 words is the G-Man's Flash Friday challenge. Check it out here.
Color is what poets are jamming about this week at Poetry Jam. Find crayons here.

Thank you, Chris.

I haven't stopped crying for the better part of a week. But today's gives me hope.

Two words or is a compound word...sunlamp! There is one benefit albeit a hidden one to living a hopeless life..Seasonal Affective Disorder just doesn't matter.

Wonderful juxtapositions here, Chris, between the warmth of that fickle winter sun, the fragility of a spider's web and the toughness of rose thorns. Thanks and Happy New year to you. Soon enough I'll stop offering new years wishes. It's the fifth of January after all, but still early enough in the year for me to warrant the words.

Chris...
You write so beautifully.
Whenever you play on Friday I am so proud because of what a Classy Lady you are. It adds your flair and your style, and it helps validate doing what I do.
Love your story.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for playing today, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

Lovely. There's definitely more than one way to have sunshine in a life. :)

Happiness is where we find it and the sun is always there, even when we can't see it.

Ooh fun! and exciting. I find the winter light to be exasperating;
yesterday was full of light early on- today- not so much! thanks.

Ah, another sun worshipper ...as in appreciating the warmth, not striving for a tan.

Sounds like your new year is off to a happy start. :)

I like it best at watered down nonfat milk strength. Then it doesn't burn so much.

That thorn bush is just waiting for me...I know it...

Beautiful! Nice when the body and the heart come together. And I love the line about the praying hands. I used to have a plant called a praying hands. It closed up at night. Have you seen those? Anyway, I enjoy everything you write and thanks for your comments on my blog. You are always very insightful.

A new sun always seems to smile, doesn't it? After a terrible storm, the first sun's rays seem clean and fresh somehow. Love your blog, Roland
