My Recipe for Disaster

Put off everything with a due date that is NOT today.

Buy some small chocolate bundt cakes, drizzled with chocolate icing and studded with chocolate chips, from Trader Joe’s grocery store or anywhere else.

Start a big project that is unrelated to anything with a due date.

Attend to a few personal needs. Examine your wrinkles closely.

Put a bundt cake in a bowl, lather it with whipped cream, and enjoy while working on the project.

Take a break to piddle around. Consider the things with due dates. Vow to do them.

Return to the random project. Ponder potato chips.

Take a long phone call. Announce you must do things with due dates.

Drop everything to organize your 2008 income tax file.

Return to the project and discovered it has multiplied itself. In a burst of self-discipline, find somewhere to stow it.

Go floss your teeth.

Eat some cheese and crackers while deciding which of the things with due dates you feel like starting. Then edit some old photo files.

When you’re cross-eyed with fatigue, close up shop. Vow that you will do things with due dates. Tomorrow.

Oh my, someone is under stress. Quick, let's send her off to some enchanted place to forget all about dead lines!

ps. if you can talk about this, you're on top of your game!

I would have been crunching the potato chips with dip. Or nacho chips with guacamole. Yeah, even better. Sounds like a recipe for why do today what you can put off till tomorrow with a couple snacks mixed in.

Just deciding now which potato chips to graze on :)

Ooh - that sounds very familiar to me. Dr. M or I are almost always somewhere on this continuum - but we haven't been doing it with bundt cake. I see our mistake now - I'll add it to the grocery list!

Oh my, this sounds like a stressful day, except for the Bundt cake. I do make lists, and love to cross off items I complete. But we all have "those" days of spinning our wheels.

(((Deep Sigh)))

I have known this discontent...

nothing quite fits the hole, and in that light no motivation comes to care for those things that are impending.

Procrastinate trying to think of something that will fit.

BLAH!

I hope you find the inspiration to be filled with content and joy! Dance!

Oh, these are my days lately. Is it the time of year? I don't want to do anything with any kind of due date.

Ah, my old friend procrastination has come for a visit, has he? When old 2008 Income tax files hold you spell bound, it's time to call it a day!

Oh, it's a good thing I don't "work from home." This is exactly how I'd do some days!

Your cheese has a 'due date', so technically that counts as working towards a deadline, right? - G

Even though you appear to be spying on me...

There are few disasters that chocolate cannot cure, or at least, disarm. Piddling, lathering, examining ... that's all you need due right now.

Due Dates? Ya mean something like 2009 Federal Income Taxes? Oh MY! That IS due soon......

I've been changing the "due date ever since last March.

Thank you.......I think!

I have been here lately, it's all I seem to be able to do to get to work and do that correctly...sometimes I wish I had more due dates, but instead I would then organize them and work on other things ... thank you for sharing this that way I don't feel so alone...

Oh my...sounds like me! I was looking for a file on a cat from 2003--that was long before my basement situation started--didn't find it but did put away some (folded) laundry that had been on my basement couch a year at least...Talking about recipes, I don't cook much lately either...
