Water, Water, Everywhere

When I'm beside the water, I'm always doing something at its edges. Photographing it. Picking up things. Tossing things into it.

I like bodies of water, from rivulets to oceans. From dew drops to rain drops, from pools to lakes.

Water makes me feel fresher than I am when I'm busy on sidewalks, in rooms, on roads, in shops.

I like water being water, sometimes serene, sometimes moving somewhere.

I've written about the sea and about rain. The sea depends on rain. Rain depends on the sea.

Today, I'm thankful for water, a fluid friend, a reflection, a plaything, an ever-changing sign of God.

Yahtzee?
You hit the mark, just thinking about a waterfall takes me somewhere sacred and orgasmic...
can I say that?
wonderful photography, Chris, time for a book!

From Kim:

I read the part you wrote “a fluid friend, a reflection,” as “fluid retention”..hehe. That is my 48 y.o. brain before enough coffee. I loved your post and photos today. I am on the cusp of Taurus and Aries and tend to the Aries part of me as I am most at home around water. I am at a point where I have to have the ocean, or at least a huge body of water, near me. My heart lies in the Outer Banks of NC. I am most content when the spring and summer rains are outside my windows. We are of like hearts and minds, I think.

What a beautiful post. I love the second photo of the women barefoot in the sand.

I, too, feel an affinity with water. The scent of the sea especially penetrates me like a huge longing ... for something greater than myself, perhaps.

Something about water moves the fluidity of the muse. Numerous writers I've talked to admit, story blocks unlocking when they're in the shower or their hands are immersed in dish water. My latest soul unlocking experience happened on the edge of a river. (Hugs)Indigo

Stunning photographs, and a marvellous meditation. One thing I find most precious about wild water is its sounds - from the steady drips of light, constant rain to the sudden downpour beating on the roof, all the river sounds, the sea's rhythmic wave wash. Oh, you get the picture! Thanks for yours.

We are always calmed by the sight of water and these lovely shots did it for me. Maybe it is a primal reaction.

Sightings of water we cherish
It seems to be almost a fetish.
Whenever it flows,
Everyone knows
For three days at least we won’t perish!

PS.Thanks for the visit..
