Off to Organize the Forest

The trees and the road to Big Sur along the California coast.

At last, we’re leaving everything behind for four days of R&R in a redwood forest overlooking the Pacific.

I see a hospice bereavement counselor once a week now, and she browbeats me: Stop managing everything! You’re always organizing! Organizing your thoughts, organizing information, organizing your feelings! Take a rest!

So I’ve organized all the camping gear and food, organized care for the animals, organized my suitcase, and we’re off to camp in a tent at Big Sur, one of my favorite places on earth. I’m taking Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins, a couple of poetry journals, and a writing assignment, so I’ve organized my literary materials too.

I have to go organize the ice chests now. I’ll leave you with a few glimpses of Big Sur. Have yourselves a wonderful weekend!

It's that control issue again, Chris. I think it's the hardest thing to let go.

Looking at those pictures of Big Sur makes me want to be outdoors instead of inside a little office without even a window. I almost feel like I've been sentenced!

I hope these four days are healing and happy! I LOVE Jitterbug Perfume! Have fun. Do NOT organize anything else.

A little organisation can hold you together, whereas too much organisation can act like a strait jacket.

It sounds as though you have found the right balance here.

Happy holiday.

I am a tad envious, I so long to walk among the redwoods one day!

Good for you, get away and do what is fun for you. It is so hard to stop organizing. Hope you do get to a place that you can let go of some of it.

What could be better than Tom Robbins and Big Sur? Not much! My hospice counselor was also incredibly helpful for months after my mother passed away ... bless them!

Be safe. Be still. Be joyful. I will send good vibes your way for detaching from the organized world for a few days.

Have a lovely four days in Big Sur, and relax. The forests and the sea are already organized by their Creator so you can take a rest.

Some of us are just happier with things organized around us. Once that's done - relax and sink into the arms of Big Sur. My father has a favorite saying that he taught me long ago. "Do what you can, and let the rough end drag." Hope your "rough end" drags this weekend. :)

Have a fabulous time, sister, relax and let the trees and water do their job.
Loved the organized riff. That probably wasn't a helpful thing to say.

Dearest Chris, have the most wonderful time. I need some organization right now. I am in such a mess. I have had some wonderful healing in the form of friends. And, one of my favorite ships was here overnight, the Radiance of the Seas, and I got to spend twelve hours on board. Saw beloved friends there as well. How healing it is to visit with old friends!!

What a beautiful place to be unorganized. Nature has organization though so it is part of us to organize. I often tried that on the unorganizable and met with disastrous results.
