This Is My Brain

This used to be my brain:

This is my brain now:

Four days without blogging! A new laptop! None of my settings are right! Nothing's where it's supposed to be! Where's the Internet Explorer icon? Where's the Blogger shortcut? I hate the new email, that "Live" thingie with all its blaring, blinking, popup ad CRAP! And the wireless mouse has run away with the moon!

In AA we laugh about the alcoholic's dislike of change. For the past four days I've rediscovered a complete aversion to it. I want my old stuff back. I'm inadequate, stupid, frustrated, and bewildered. I'm even writing this post on my old laptop because if I spend one more hour trying to find my favorite stuff, I'm going to hurl that bigger, faster, shinier, shittier pain in the a*s out the window.

How do you deal with things like this?

My solution's going to be prayer, patience, and phone calls. In the meantime, have a great day.

(My photos are of the seed pods of a sweet little flower called "Love in the mist" or "Kiss Me Quick!")

I actually enjoy trying to figure things out and making them bend to my will. However, the "Live" crap is really annoying.

Well at least you're finding the humor in the situation LOL. My husband & I go through this every time we get a new computer. And all I can say is that proficiency will come. With time! You just have to use it regularly. I think.

If I have to deal with change, it is only because it it was out of my hands and not of my choosing. I do not like change. So I understand your current frustration. Won't it be fun to just zip along and remember these days?

Oh my yes ! I can identify-
I was just trying to find the persons blog I was on this morning that brought a poem out of me...
I posted on her comments and then
came back and put it on my page.
No return trip! Such challenges.
I like some of the other sites I've been on because you can leave a message w/ the date, right on their 'Home/cover' page.
So now I curse and rant a bit then have to sigh and accept my limitations-

Deal with it? Actually, I LOVE "setting up" a new computer! But it DOES take me several days to remember all the stuff and "get it right"...

I used to just go to sleep, denying that anything bothered THIS A-hole. So, from "a poet recovers", you have evolved into a recovering IT Peep!

I am just happy beyond words that you can make light of it, and have FUN, no matter what--grin!!!

Oh I feel your pain! When I got my new laptop, it took me a number of days to organise everything and get it all working normally. It drove me insane. But I found that taking things slowly and pausing often to close my eyes and just breathe really helped. Hope your laptop-woes are over soon, wishing you a wonderful day :)

So true about AA's and change. That is where I first heard "If you think change is easy, try wiping with the other hand." Crude, but makes it's point. Good luck with the new computer. You KNOW you'll get used to it.

I like the Mac. I really find it so much more intuitive than a PC.

I hate change too. I stopped by here to tell you how awesome your encouragement was or weeks following the Earthquake and to thank you for that. Hoping you learn to love your new shittier computer soon :)

Just think, though, when you finally work your way through it, the new computer will probably be so fabulous and fast, you'll get through your posts so much more quickly and have more free time to smell the roses. Or make your rounds and finally get caught up with some of the things in your life.

You do know you can Google up any answer you need about how to transfer old things like say your bookmarks from one old PC top a new one.

Answers are easy when they are for questions asked. and noises can and should be turned off they take up ram.

That is one of my 3 fvavorite flowers, with Columbine, and Lupine. We had it in our patio until I neglectfully killed almost everything. It was in my wild wedding bouquet.

I know how you feel about the 'puter. mine is running slower and I need to take it in for a cleaning.... dreading it.

Keep growing,

Di

I've been so busy, I totally missed the change in the email for a couple days. I'm learning there are some things that I like, but others I miss. Then on top of that a new computer! You are in the thick of it. But I see your photos showing that the "seed pod" of your brain is opening up and spreading new ideas and growth.
Okay...that's a stretch even for me. Good luck! :)

for whatever reason, call it grace I suppose... I've learned to embraec and enjoy change since getting sober in 1996.

I look forward to new things and experiences and I relish a good challenge, unless of course,I am not in a great spiritual place lol.

I think you've got a great action plan lined up to deal with this change :-)

Sorry about computer; however, use of seed pod images is brilliant. It is so close to the truth: I have known the frazzled seedpods moment.

I felt this exact same way last week! The office upgraded all the Windows software and I kept muttering to myself, "I don't have time to figure out what all these new widgets and icons are supposed to do". But when I asked to have my previous version re-installed, they all looked at me like I had just asked to be sent back to the Stone Age.

Lovely photos. - G

Oh, how I sympathize with you, Chris! The photos are absolutely perfect...I once had them go completely out of control, growing everywhere and so loved it!!!

Last time I changed computers and upgraded to windows 7, the change brought me to tears. Your comment..."I'm inadequate, stupid, frustrated, and bewildered" fits me exactly, except add angry to it.

Hope you've found the mouse and that things are calmer around your house today!:) xoxo
