Bear With Me

In honor of those living still buried under the rubble in Port-au-Prince, I share here the first verse of Haitian hymn #6 in Chants D’esperance (Spiritual Chants):

Lord, there’s nothing I can give you
Only one heart that’s tired and suffering
And without you I cannot heal
My misery is in front of you

Segne, angnin m-pa ka ba ou
Sel gnou ke ki bouke soufri
E san ou mouin pa kab geri
Mize mouin devan ou

*************
May the eternal God gather them in His almighty arms.

This is one of my two favorite blogs from Haiti. Licia, Enoch, Lori, and others are blessing many lives in that sad city. It's their brother Casey who is broadcasting the words of the hymn.

Here is another. Kim and Patrick are part of the informal distribution network springing up for lack of more organized help.

I pray for them all, and I keep thinking that a disaster like that can happen anywhere.

Chris - this was a very sad hymn. I read Patrick and Kim's blog - so touching, their words about the Haitians in this past ten days. They paint a picture of such caring for each other, unity in the search for survivors, it just really gets to you!

I hope it doesn't end like New Orleans. Where does all the money go? So sad.

There are so many compassionate people who went to help and serve. I feel guilty I could not do more...

What a sad and horrible time. I hope that the road blocks to getting supplies to the people are overcome.

What I have learned about Haiti is that it isn't what I thought. I am humbled by the things I read and the testimonies to their faith, dignity, courage, and how they are dealing with this disaster. The world needs to stop and learn now. We can make a difference. The hymn was beautiful in it's plea.

The living are the ones suffering now. them that have died are safely asleep in the houses of their ancestors waiting for the moment when time ends. Always attend to living while they yet have breath for the dead are already seen to.

my prayers are with those in Haiti and those working to help those in Haiti...

I jsut hope the world doesn't go on and forget haiti once the dust settles and the media moves on to the next big thing in a year, like in New Orlenas

Thank you for the links and your posts on Haiti. It is heartbreaking, and the people of Haiti remain in my thoughts and prayers. They are beautiful and courageous people. The people who are over there working to help are also amazing. I will keep giving money. I guess prayer and money are what the rest of us can do right now. Thank you again. Your heart is most appreciated.

"May the eternal God gather them in His almighty arms." That is a beautiful prayer.

And may he gather all of us as well.

I missed you, I am glad to have time to catch up and reconnect with you.
Interesting post, I think terribly painfull things happen fairly often causing lots of pain with it, what is in our hands is how we decide to handle that pain, there is still suffering, but it changes things.

Ooooh, the pain of knowing people are buried alove in the bowels of the wreckage.

It hurts to think of them, to put myself in their place--but I must.

God bless those who wait for rescue, and for their rescuers.
